Crown Molding

Filling the often overlooked corner where wall meets ceiling, crown molding adds definition, style, and class to any room it's installed in.

Once used as a means to hide cracks at the ceiling/wall joint, crown molding was phased out as newer building methods solved the cracking problem. Now, it's making a comeback as homeowners have realized it adds character to an otherwise simple room.

Crown molding comes in various styles, from minimal to fancy, to meet your tastes. Arguably by far the single most effective way to add sophistication to your rooms, crown molding is a surprisingly affordable option to enhance the look of your home.

You might ask yourself what the difference between moulding and molding is. There isn't any aside from the spelling! Some people are taught moulding while others learn molding, but in the end they are the same thing.

Baseboard

Base Molding

Often simply called "Baseboard", base molding covers the gap between flooring and wall, creating a smooth transition while covering often rough edges.

Like crown, baseboard comes in various designs and heights. Normally, shorter heights are used for plain walls, while taller styles are used in conjunction with architectural detailing.

Being so low to the ground, base molding tends to take a lot of wear over the years.  Fortunately, remodeling your home with new baseboard is an affordable renovation project.

Architectural Detailing

Architectural detailing is the art of improving upon features of your home. An entryway becomes a grand foyer with the addition of wainscotting. The lonely half wall in the dining room becomes a focal point by converting it to shiplap.

From accent walls to ceiling medallions, these details provide aesthetics and value for your home.

Here at Cramer's Finish Carpentry, we discuss every aspect of detailing with our clients to be sure that the finished product not only meets the customers expectations, but compliments the space itself.
